Erasmus+ exchange in Tampere Autumn 2024
This is what our students wrote about the week:
Sunday 22.9.
On Sunday german students flew first to Copenhagen, then to Helsinki-Vantaa. On the way one student forgot her backpack to the train (but luckily we got it back later!). Finnish people came to the railway station and we went home and sleep early.
Monday 23.9.
The next day on Tuesday morning we had a workshop where we did some exercises about the school facts how its in Germany and how its in Finland. We were comparing Finnish and German schools. For example, German school has longer brakes than Finnish schools. And Finnish school has free school lunch and German school doesn't have. Then we started to plan Erasmus+ logos with our partners. Then we went to the Vapriikki and Werstas Museum. At the Vapriikki Museum we had many stations. We had a task there, where we had to go to three different museums and tell about them. We also visited the gaming part of the museum and the ice hockey part. Then after that we were free to walk around how we wanted.
Then we had lunch there and a little bit of freetime. Then we walked to Werstas. We talked about Tamperes history. Then we got our last task of the day. We had a city tour, where we went to different places in the city center. We went to Kuusvooninkinen-tehdasrakennus, Tallipiha, Raatihuone, Patosilta, Koskipuisto, Kehräsaari and then to our last stop Kauppahalli. We were in groups and we had to take fotos and learn about the history of these places. At the end we had to meet up with the teachers. At the end we had then free time and we went to the Shopping Center Ratina.
Wednesday 25.9.
On wednesday we had a lesson about school food and eco social sivilization. We had three different workshops. We made ideas about break activities, talked about our schools and things we would like to change as well as about the school food. Then we left to Sammon koulu and saw some art there and worked with pairs. The tasks were to make poem, paint plants and guess and draw animals. At the painting task we had to continue the paintings some other student has started. It was so fun and the paintings were really pretty. And at the animal guessing and drawing task the other pair picked an animal and tried to explain it and the other pair drew it .We learned about Sammon koulu and something about history. After art exhibition we went to Shopping Center Koskikeskus and Shopping Center Ratina. We had great time there. It was nice to hang out.
On thursday we wrote more about things that we could improve in our schools and wrote more about the break activities. We collected some photos to a powerpoint. We also had to finish our logos. Then we had three normal classes (Chemistry, Math, History and Finnish) with our host students. After that we went to the home economics class and made porridge from lingon berries, bread from carrots and apple pie for parents and us. We had free time and we went to Tallipiha, then we came back to school with some parents and watched pictures from the week and ate the apple pie.

- In the Finnish school they are recycling and in Germany we are not recycling that much
- The German school is bigger than the school in Finland.
- In Germany we have a kiosk but in Finland they don't have.
- The students can stay in the building during the break and we like that.
- German students say that they have learned that Finnish students say thank you/kiitos to the dishlady after lunch.
- And also take their shoes off in some lessons.
- German students learned that Finland is a beautiful country
- In germany you have to say Herr/Frau to the teachers (siezen) and in Finland you can say first name and Du (duzen)
- The Teachers are nice in both schools but they can be strict at some points.
- In Germany the longest day is to 15.55 but in Finland its 14.50.
- Only the textbooks are free in Germany but the workbooks aren’t and in Finland everything is free.

- lockers at school (in Germany)
- bigger classrooms to Germany
- comfortable places to chill
- more activities on the break
- more fruits at lunch, more vegetarian food
- water stations around school
- kiosk to Finnish school
- Pingis tables to Kaarila
- more hanging areas with sofas
- cleaner toilets
- longer breaks (so that there could be longer activities)
- competitions between teachers and students
- areas where you could talk more relaxed with your friends (school lobby is loud)
- better recycling
Our break ideas:
- Piste / Punkt - Eine Art Versteckspiel
- Hide - Catch - Release
- Schlafen/Entspannungspause
- Spielklassenraum / Game room (board games and others)
What are we waiting for to happen in Germany on Spring?
- In Germany we would love to know about German culture and learn more how their school differs from ours.
- We would like to know about German traditions
- We would want go shopping and get to know Bochum
- We want to play some games, go to classes and learn about the school and have similar workshops in Germany.
- We want to try diffrent foods and candys
- We would like go to a freetime park kirmes or smth. if possible
Erasmus+ week is great for everybody who is open for a new experience. We wouldn't change anything. We would recommend the Erasmus+ week to others because it's very fun and you can learn about other cultures. Best things about the week were the free time, meeting new people, learning new things, hanging out, workshops... The days could have started later but then we wouldn't have experienced so many things.
See you soon in Bochum!
